My tall big tree
By Sarah Benmouffok
When I was walking back home
I saw a tall big tree I said oh tall tree I have a new book on me Well come read it to me You know how i feel so lonely Here you go my tall tree So i started telling the story Of the loneliest whale in the sea Oh but how lucky Is the loneliest whale in the sea Said my tall big tree But isn't it so sad to be lonely I said questioningly But dear at least it's free It said calmly Oh my poor tall tree But i need to go home Before mom scolds me Bye little girly See you tomorrow my tree |
Quatrain Poem
By: Meredith Baumgartner
A quatrain is a type of poetry that has four lines and has an alternate rhyme. That means that the first and third lines have a word rhyming with each other at the end, as do the second and fourth line. The quatrain poem can also be written with two different rhythms. It can be either 1,2,1,2 or 1,1,2,2.
Free
Walking on the fields makes me free
When the sun goes down
So let me be
I shall not make a frown
I should be glee
Wearing a bright yellow gown
At the top of my lungs, I’m screaming yippee!
Now I’m wearing a golden crown
This quatrain with only one stanza is a famous rhyming story that every child knows:
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
All the kings’ horses and all the kings’ men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again.
